Will UP Govt provide bonanza to Veterans on Kargil Victory Day??
Uttar Pradesh is a unique state in many ways!!
Apart from being the most populous state of the country, it provides maximum soldiers to the defence forces . But see the irony!! Small states like Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh , Uttarakhand and Karnatak provide reservation to Ex Servicemen of their states in Group A and B posts but Uttar pradesh Government does not do so.
Before 1999 , there was reservation in Group A and B posts for Ex Servicemen in Uttar Pradesh but they started reducing percentage from 1992 and in 1999 when other states were felicitating and awarding the Kargil War heroes, UP chose the other way round . It took 'Ulta decision, and stopped reservation for Ex Servicemen in Group A and B posts on 27 July 1999 . What a unique gift to soldiers on Kargil victory day!!!!😢😢😢😢
Till then many Governments have come and gone in UP but no Government found this 'Ulta decision' worth reconsidering. Uttarakhand which was separated from UP, reinstated reservation in Group A and B posts for its Veterans in year 2009 but UP did not learn from its younger brother.
Now Mr. Devendra Pratap Singh, MLC , Mr. Ajay Kumar 'Lallu' , UP Congress chief and many others have written letter to UP CM to provide reservation to Ex Servicemen in Group A and B posts. Mr. Devendra Pratap Singh has raised this question in Assembly also and that time Govt replied that it is under consideration. In 2017, Standing committee on defence headed by Maj General BC Khanduri , AVSM (Retd) also recommended 10 percent reservation in Group B posts to Ex Servicemen .
Hope the UP Government amends the mistake done by it in 1999 and gives the bonanza to its soldiers on this Kargil victory day i.e. 27 July .
